Surrey Dance 21 – Adapting to Place: A practical workshop with choreographer Rosemary Lee
October 22 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
IN PERSON WORKSHOP – with choreographer Rosemary Lee
DATE: Friday 22nd October
LOCATION: West Horsley Place, Epsom Road, West Horsley, KT24 6AN
Surrey Dance 21 is working with Surrey Hills Arts to support Rosemary Lee’s creation of a new site-responsive work. This will take place at West Horsley Place, a medieval manor house and estate whose programme has a focus on the arts, heritage and nature. Rosemary’s commission explores the walled orchard and will result in a series of digital portraits that emerge from her intergenerational choreography.
As development for the project, Rosemary is offering a CPD day aimed primarily at dance artists living and/or working in Surrey, but also open to others from outside the county. She will present her work, using films and stills, sharing her process and inspirations. She will then lead a workshop in the orchard and surrounds of West Horsley Place leading the participants in movement explorations and sharing with them her initial ideas for the new project she is creating there.
